Ways to Give

Support, Promote, Donate

Your Donation Makes a Difference

Our work and your support are more crucial than ever. COVID-19 continues to hit people with disabilities particularly hard. The pandemic has not slowed us down, it has only reinforced DRNC’s determination to build our work. By supporting DRNC’s efforts, you are with us in the fight for access to health and mental health care, employment, education, community services and basic human rights that people with disabilities deserve.

DRNC is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. EIN: 56-1243369

Your donations are always needed; each and every dollar donated makes a difference. Our funding comes from federal and state grants, private foundations, charitable contributions from organizations, and from individuals like you.

You can also show your support by sharing this page or uniting your friends and family by holding a Facebook fundraiser on DRNC’s behalf. Together we can make a phenomenal impact on the lives of people with disabilities in North Carolina.

Why Donate to DRNC?

Nearly 3 million North Carolina residents have one or more disability. As North Carolina’s protection and advocacy agency, we are the only agency that protects the legal needs of people across all types of disabilities, and of all ages, statewide. This year, more than 4,000 people with disabilities will contact DRNC for help. Thousands more will benefit from our systemic advocacy efforts.

We have much work to do to make sure that our communities are inclusive and integrated. Too many of our clients live on the margins of society and/or have their legal rights denied. Your support for our work supports the right of people with disabilities to live independent lives in the communities of their choice.

Disability Rights North Carolina is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are 100% tax deductible. Make your gift today online, or mail a check to our office in Raleigh.

Other Types of Donations

The John Rittelmeyer Disability Education Fund

DRNC and the disability community of North Carolina lost a great friend and legal advocate with the passing of DRNC litigation director John Rittelmeyer in October, 2019. To honor John as the pillar of our organization that he was, DRNC created a memorial fund in his name. The John Rittelmeyer Disability Education Fund was seeded by his and his family’s request for memorial gifts in his honor. Donations designated as a tribute to John’s work continue to grow the fund, and donors of $250 or more will have the opportunity to be memorialized on the plaque that we will prominently display in DRNC’s office suite.

Planned giving

Leave a legacy to show that your life made a difference and to serve as a long-standing memorial of what you believed was important. Planned charitable giving can be an easy way to support a nonprofit organization doing work you believe is important.

Two of the most common ways to make a planned gift are through a Last Will and Testament and through life insurance. It is easy to identify Disability Rights North Carolina as a recipient of a percentage of your estate, a defined benefit amount, or an asset. Or you can designate Disability Rights North Carolina as a beneficiary or co-beneficiary on your life insurance policy. Based on your overall financial plan, either of these options are a good way to make a meaningful gift and receive tax benefits.

Contact Susan McLean at susan.mclean@disabilityrightsnc.org or 919-856-2195 to discuss how you can join others who have set up planned gifts to ensure the future of Disability Rights North Carolina and its work to improve the lives of people with disabilities.
