North Carolina is facing an historic catastrophe in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Disability Rights North Carolina (DRNC) staff are safe but have suffered trauma and loss along with so many others in Western NC. We remain concerned about people who are lost or disconnected from things they need. DRNC is here to help.
We won’t even know the extent of lost lives, livelihoods, and possessions for some time. We have been unable to determine when essential services will be restored to the hardest hit areas. We can only hope and ask that you take care of yourselves and others as your situations allows. Person to person, neighbor to neighbor, let’s pull each other through this crisis. We know that disabled people are among the most resilient, innovative people. Please report what you need.
