Great news just in time for early voting! DRNC has secured a new partnership that will allow us to provide rides for people with disabilities, their families, and allies to obtain Voter IDs, get birth certificates and social security cards necessary to obtain a NCID or NCDL, and schedule rides to the polls. IDs include a free county Board of Elections ID, a NCID, or NC Driver’s License (some restrictions apply).
Through this partnership, funding is available for birth certificates and the NCDMV replacement fee. (Note: DRNC cannot pay for any tickets or fines).
DRNC now has a direct contact at NCDMV to schedule appointments within 2 weeks. Beginning February 15, all ride requests MUST be made through the 888-WEVOTE2 hotline.
People with disabilities can make DMV appointments after voting season and still get a ride.
