People with disabilities have fought for decades against laws restricting their bodily autonomy – their right to do what they choose, go where they want, make their own decisions, and be who they want to be. People with disabilities are at an increased risk of becoming victims of physical exploitation, non-consensual sex, rape, incest, and other forms of unwanted sexual activity that may lead to an unplanned pregnancy. Disability Rights North Carolina opposes any law restricting bodily autonomy of any person and denounces the Dobbs decision. DRNC stands firm in supporting the rights of every individual to decide what to do with their own body and reminds everyone that, even now, abortions continue to be legal and accessible in North Carolina.
