Job Description

DRNC has an immediate opening for a full-time administrative assistant. The legal assistant will support the day-to-day operations of the legal team by performing administrative tasks, occasionally assisting with intake to ensure high quality legal services, and managing internal team communications and confidential documentation. The legal assistant will also work closely with our Representative Payee team after security clearance is obtained from the Social Security Administration. This position requires attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills and competent multi-tasking in a deadline driven environment. This is a hybrid position, requiring some in-person work in our Raleigh office.

Job Duties include

  • Performs administrative and general office support, including word processing, filing, faxing, scanning, and maintaining records
  • repares correspondence, client releases and agreements using standard templates consistent with agency’s Client Services Manual
  • Monitors and takes assignments from SharePoint
  • Works with IT to improve and manage SharePoint dashboard
  • Schedules meetings and appointments as needed
  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail
  • Works collaboratively with attorneys, paralegal, and other staff
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor and/or attorneys
  • Serves as an administrator for case management system and
  • Assists with collection of data for reports and grant applications

Requirements

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with others
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Must be flexible and display initiative in working on new tasks
  • Ability to transition to different job dutiesWork in an efficient, organized, timely and detail-oriented manner
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, One Drive, Teams, and Zoom
  • Successfully complete SSA’s federal security clearance
  • Ability to work in-person at Raleigh office on regular and as-needed basis

Desirable Qualifications

  • Life experience with disability
  • Experience working in a legal services, nonprofit or public interest environment
  • Ability to communicate in ASL, Spanish or another non-English language
  • Basic understanding of the legal process and terminology
  • Associate degree or higher
  • One-year general office experience
  • Experience with e-Filing court documents
  • Proven ability to work within a team
  • Strong ability to analyze and problem solve
  • Self-Driven and motivated
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize work and is efficient with time management

Compensation package is competitive with other non-profit law firms. The hiring range is $31,200 – $44,000 annually, depending on experience.
