Glynnis Hagins joined DRNC in September 2024 as an attorney focusing on ensuring that North Carolina students have access to a world-class education free from discrimination and harm. She is passionate about making sure educational opportunities are not limited by race, gender identity, zip code, or other factors beyond a student’s control. As Glynnis notes, “Education, as the North Carolina Constitution recognizes, must be available for all.”
Glynnis holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from North Carolina Central University (2015) and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law, with a concentration in Children’s Law (2022).
Before joining DRNC, Glynnis served as a Skadden Fellow for the NAACP—the first from the University of South Carolina and the first for the NAACP. Her fellowship responded to the ongoing housing and eviction crisis, establishing school-based housing clinics in Columbia, South Carolina, that connected families with legal and community resources. She also worked on education issues, including curriculum challenges and the fight against private school vouchers. Prior to her legal career, Glynnis was a high school English teacher in Richmond County, North Carolina.
In her free time, Glynnis enjoys spending time with family and friends, diving into a good book, curating the perfect playlist, dancing in Zumba class, and trying not to binge-watch too much TV.
