Cherene Caraco

PAIMI Advisory Council Chair (Western Region)

Cherene is the CEO of Promise Resource Network, a national and international recovery consultant. She has also served on the board of the College for Behavioral Health Leadership, MindFreedom International and Pathways to Resilience.

Joining the board of DRNC was a natural step for Ms. Caraco as she found a strong alignment between her personal values and the organization’s mission. Cherene is deeply impressed by DRNC’s dedication to bringing significant, positive changes to flawed systems and practices.

Cherene actively seeks to transform carceral care and locked, involuntary confinement with a focus on addressing abuses in settings with skewed power dynamics and advocating for policies centered on humanity and practices that promote healing, wellness and recovery. Her commitment to DRNC centers on empowering those most impacted by policies and laws in order to affect systemic change. Cherene envisions a future where those with lived experiences crucially shape the design and implementation of more effective, compassionate systems
