Noah’s mom called DRNC when she saw bruises on her son’s face and arms during a video call. Noah had been sent to a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) to receive treatment for his mental health disability. Instead, one worker held him down while another beat him and broke his arm. Noah was left without medical care for many days.
This is a true story, though of course we have changed the name and identifying details for our client’s protection. We have many clients like Noah, young people in need of care who end up in facilities because the right kind of support is not offered in their communities. With no other option, they receive the wrong kind of services, far from home. We are committed to protecting the rights of these children.
