Charlie Barnes joined DRNC as the agency’s chief financial officer when it became the state’s Protection & Advocacy agency in 2007. Barnes has over 35 years’ experience in nonprofit accounting. Before DRNC, he worked 23 years with North Carolina Easter Seals and one year with the NC Partnership for Children. He has now “semi-retired” into his current role as part-time accounting assistant. Barnes received his MBA from Campbell University. When Barnes is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, participating in church activities, reading or exercising. Barnes completed numerous marathons and ultra-marathons, including three 100-mile endurance runs.
