Kansas does not exclude those individuals in the correctional system from being assessed for the Brain Injury waiver as a part of their discharge planning if they have a history of TBI and now ABI. Upon discharge, the application for KanCare is typically approved and if found eligible for the BI waiver, the MCO would reach out to complete the service needs assessment. They routinely assess within the correctional however there is no official program within the correctional system specific to TBI rehabilitation.
