Tropical Depression Chantal and Central NC Flooding Resources

In July, Tropical Depression Chantal brought heavy rain to central North Carolina, causing severe flooding. Flooding and washed out roads  blocked 100+ roads and highways across central NC including Chatham, Moore, Orange, Durham, Alamance, Person and Caswell counties.

  • The organization has casework teams available to help reconnect families impacted by the floods. You can contact them by phone at 1-800-RED CROSS (800-733-2767) or through a monitored digital form online.

Psychological First Aid

The NCTSN also has resources for responders on Psychological First Aid (PFA; En Español). PFA is an early intervention to support children, adolescents, adults, and families impacted by these types of events. Tenants’ Rights (Legal Aid NC)

If your home is damaged to the point that it is not habitable, you have the right to terminate your lease.
You must notify your landlord, in writing, within ten (10) days of the damage of your intent to terminate
the lease, unless your lease provides otherwise, and pay rent through the date you end the lease.
