The State Board of Elections is working to update voter registration records. Some voters don’t have a North Carolina driver’s license, DMV ID number, or Social Security number listed in the state’s database. These numbers are important because they help confirm a voter’s identity.
In mid-August, about 82,000 registered voters who had not yet provided the necessary information were sent a letter from the State Board.
To make sure there are no problems on Election Day, the State Board urges voters who get this letter to give their ID numbers using one of the three easy options listed in the letter and on the website.
