Help DRNC’s End Solitary NC

DRNC’s End Solitary NC project has called on coalition members and community supporters to create a replica solitary confinement cell. This replica cell has been a powerful tool for public education and awareness about the harrowing realities of solitary confinement within North Carolina’s prisons.

Why a Replica Solitary Confinement Cell?

Solitary confinement is a practice that remains shrouded in secrecy, with few people genuinely understanding the psychological and physical toll it takes on incarcerated individuals. Our replica cell aims to make the hidden horrors of solitary confinement visible to the public, and allows us to:

  1. Raise Awareness: The replica cell represents the stark and isolating conditions faced by those subjected to solitary confinement. It helps people better understand the urgency of our mission.
  2. Educate Communities:  We take our replica cell to multiple sites and events throughout North Carolina. Its presence facilitates open conversations about the need for reform within our prison system.
  3. Engage Organizations and Religious Institutions: We invite organizations and religious institutions our members belong to host the replica cell and public education events. This collaborative approach helps us reach a broader audience and foster collective action.

Our Request:  Support this critical project

Maintaining this replica cell requires both financial resources and dedicated labor.
