Disability Rights NC files complaint concerning State’s Protocol on Scarce Inpatient Critical Care Resources
You may have seen stories in the news recently about discrimination in health care. People with disabilities are being put at the back of the line for lifesaving care in state emergency plans for hospitals. These plans are in place for doctors to follow in case they run out of supplies. But the problem is that they violate civil rights laws. DRNC has been following this issue in North Carolina. On May 5, DRNC filed a complaint with the US Office of Civil Rights to report discrimination on the basis of disability in North Carolina’s current emergency plan. We will continue to follow this issue closely.
