Dane Mullis

Advocate

Dane Mullis joined DRNC in March of 2023 as an advocate supporting the SUD Healthcare
Discrimination Team. Dane contributes to DRNC’s efforts to address discrimination in
healthcare settings and to advance equitable access to evidence-based treatment for
people with substance use disorders (SUD).

Dane is a social worker, addiction specialist, harm reductionist, and advocate in long-
term recovery, with a variety of experience working across multiple systems, including
substance use treatment, behavioral health services, recovery support programs,
and community-based care. Dane is deeply committed to reducing stigma, dismantling
systemic barriers to treatment, and centering the voices and experiences of
empowering people with SUD who experience most impacted by SUD healthcare
discrimination.

Dane’s professional journey spans direct service, systems-level advocacy, and
leadership roles, with a focus on treatment access, recovery-oriented systems of care,
evidence-based practice, and policy-informed approaches. In addition to consulting with
DRNC, Dane serves in leadership/management at McLeod Centers for Wellbeing,
where they continue to work at the intersection of treatment, recovery, and systems
change.

Dane holds a master of social work degree from The University of Kentucky and is a licensed clinical social worker and addictions specialist.
