Maine as part of a previous grant through Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA/ACL) did develop a screening tool for TBI that was specific to the criminal justice population however the tool was not implemented within the county or state criminal justice systems. The grant provided funding for experts in the field in Maine to partner with others to develop a simple tool that would help identify potential TBI that would lead to further exploration and support. There were many questions around what happens for the person after the completion of the tool thus the tool never got off the ground.
