About NC ID

DRNC is excited to announce that we have officially launched the NC ID Project, a new program designed to help people newly released from prison get an NC ID.

An Identification Card is key to a successful re entry! A state-issued ID Card can open up access to housing, benefits, jobs, and more. At Disability Rights NC, we know that people returning to our communities, many of whom have disabilities, have a lot to sort out. We want to help by assisting people to get their NC ID Card issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Getting an ID

The NC Division of Motor Vehicles issues a photo ID for people who do not need a drivers license. The DMV website explains that people must appear in person at a DMV office and bring documents to establish:

1. Your age and identity

2. That you have a Social Security number

3. That you are a North Carolina resident.

DRNC will help you obtain the documents you need.

If you’d like help getting an NC ID call us at 1-888-938-6832. Leave a message with your name and phone number and we’ll call you back. You can also contact us by email by using the form below.
